Groups

Some work only happens in a room with other people

A group meets regularly, with the same members and the same facilitator. Nothing about it is drop-in — the membership is what makes it work.

Two kinds of group

Support group

Built around a shared experience — grief, caregiving, a diagnosis. The facilitator holds the space; the members carry the content.

Shared experience, not a curriculum
Open-ended or seasonal
No clinical assessment to join

Therapeutic group

Follows a clinical method with a defined arc and a defined end. Joining involves a short assessment, because the mix of the group matters clinically.

Method-led, with session structure
Fixed number of sessions
Short intake assessment required

Age groups, kept separate on purpose

Adolescents and teenagers are not one audience. The material, the language and the consent process differ, so we run them as separate groups.

13–15

Adolescents

Shorter sessions, more structure, a parent briefing at the start and the end.

16–18

Teenagers

Longer sessions, more autonomy, and confidentiality that belongs to the member.

18+

Adults

Mixed or single-gender depending on the group’s clinical purpose.

Who can join a given group

Open to all adultsWomen onlyMen onlyAge-banded

Some groups are open to everyone; some are limited to men, to women, or to a specific age band. This is participant eligibility — it is stated on each group so you know before you enquire, and it is never a way of sorting the catalogue.

Online and in person

In person

At the centre, same room each week. Best for therapeutic groups and for adolescents.

Online

Camera on, same time each week. Opens groups to members outside Cairo.
